Bronwen Buckeridge will completing the sequence of artists  working in the Dilston Grove incorporating elements that have been left behind by the previous five artists  – Anne Bean, William Cobbing, David Cotterill, Carl von Weiler and Rachel Lowe during their week long residencies at Dilston Grove. The outcome of his week can be seen next weekend. Visit this and also drop in to the nearby Café Gallery to see ARCHIPELAGO where 15 artists have been developing their work alongside each other over the last 6 weeks ….

A six-week programme of performance and installation in which 21 artists develop artworks throughout the course of two concurrent shows in the galleries in Southwark Park. Curated by Anne Bean and Gary Stevens, the separate but interrelated shows aim to liberate the artists from the usual conventions of curated exhibitions. Ignoring the traditions of themes or commissions they have instead opted for a work about related trajectories but unknown outcomes.

In WAKE six artists inhabit Dilston Grove sequentially in a series of week-long mini-residencies. Each artist  chooses their successor and each leaves behind their materials and structures for the following artist to inherit and build upon. Picking up where the previous artist left off, the newcomer responds to, recycles and adds to what they find, gradually or radically transforming the space. At the end of each week the artists’ sculptural engagement with the space culminates in an installation or performance that is open to the public.

Anne Bean – 11/12 June
William Cobbing – 18/19 June
David Cotterrell – 25/26 June
Carl Von Weiler – 2/3 July
Rachel Lowe – 9 /10 July
Bronwen Buckeridge – 16/17 July

In ARCHIPELAGO, fifteen installation and performance artists were asked to share a space creating a group show that will be both fluid and surprising. Simultaneously standing alone yet linked by a common space each artist marks his or her territory, camp or nest. As they vie and negotiate with each other their artworks evolve over time. Audiences can visit the space throughout the opening times of the gallery where they may witness different combinations of artists as they build, modify or dismantle their islands.

Artists:
Emma Benson, Ian Bourn, Claire Blundell Jones, Lee Campbell, Helena Goldwater, Michelle Griffiths, Zoe Mendelson, Graeme Miller, Frog Morris, Steve Ounanian, Florence Peake, Helena Bryant, Tim Spooner, Fiona Templeton and Caroline Wilkinson.
