Two Degrees: Political pop-up restaurant with guest speaker Neal Lawson

past guest speaker, Clifford Singer, falseeconomy.org.uk

As part of Our Current Climate? we're inviting you to join the Political Pop-Up Restaurant for a sample menu of the finest alternatives to the current climate of cuts, sustainably sourced and easier to swallow.

How is it we can afford billions to prop-up banks but we can’t subsidise outdoor education centres? Since when are credit ratings more important than climate change? Why should lone parents and single pensioners be the biggest losers from government cuts? And how can I defend the things I care about when they’re all being cut at once?

The Political Pop-Up Restaurant opened its doors in February this year as a chance to sit down for a meal with like-minds and get some real understanding of these huge questions. As the courses are served, guests enjoy a brief background to the cuts and insights from a well-placed guest speaker, all as a springboard for discussion on the hardest question of all: “What can we do?”

About the guest speaker:
Neal Lawson is the Chair of Compass, the UK's most influential ideas and action based political pressure group, with over 40,000 members and supporters. Neal will speak about the ideas, campaigns and coalitions needed to build a more equal, democratic and sustainable society in the midst of the spending cuts.
