Under the Vaulted Sky

Rosemary Lee

Friday 18 July: 5pm & 7.30pm
Saturday 19 July: 2pm, 4.30pm & 7pm
Sunday 20 July: 2pm, 4.30pm & 7pm

Over the past year Rosemary Lee has been artist in residence for IF: Milton Keynes International Festival developing a new outdoor promenade performance for the Cathedral of Trees. This magical arboretum was planted over 40 years ago on an ancient ley line running through the heart of the city and mirrors the architectural footprint of Norwich Cathedral.

Joined by composer Terry Mann and designer Louise Belson and a cast of 100 performers (aged nine upwards), as well as a team of professional dancers and musicians, Rosemary will respond to the still beauty of this special site. As audiences weave around the cathedral made of trees, they will encounter an eclectic combination of fleeting dances and delicate installations accompanied by a vibrant soundscape of bells, trombones and percussion.

Under The Vaulted Sky completes a triptych of participatory performances, following Common Dance (2009) and Square Dances (2011). Recipient of the first Arts Council England Exceptional Awards, Under The Vaulted Sky will open at IF: Milton Keynes International Festival 2014.
