SHIFT CONSTRUCT

Florence Peake

SHIFT CONSTRUCT by Florence Peake

Friday: 6pm-9pm
Saturday: 2pm-5pm

Florence Peake is creating a new performance work, SHIFT CONSTRUCT, for
NOW gallery which opens on the Greenwich Peninsula in September.

Peake¹s work is a response to an installation by Simon Heijdens, who has
wrapped the gallery's 7 meter windows with an intelligent skin reacting to
wind, creating a kaleidoscope of light and shade. Also a play with the
weather and environment of the glass-walled gallery, SHIFT CONSTRUCT will
see dancers build structures in response to the shifting light and
atmosphere and presence of people in the space; interacting with and
interrupting their own patterns of construction as they move.

SHIFT CONSTRUCT is created with renowned performers Luke Birch, Katye Coe.
Andrew Hardwidge, Susanna Recchia and Rosalie Wahlfrid with a specially
commissioned sound score by Henry Bennett. The performance will move
between indoor and outdoor spaces over three hours; audiences are invited
to come and go at their leisure.

Florence Peake's SHIFT CONSTRUCT is commissioned by NOW Gallery and
produced by NKT. Florence Peake is an Artsadmin Associate Artist.

NOW Gallery is a new public exhibition space for contemporary art and
design. A permanent, free gallery on London¹s Greenwich Peninsula which
features a unique programme of commissioned work by established and
emerging artists and designers. NOW Later is on the last Friday of every
month and will test the temperature of the latest in art and design by
collaborating with practitioners in dance, music and performance art.
