4D CINEMA

Mamoru Iriguchi

4D CINEMA by Mamoru Iriguchi

7.30pm.

Mamoru iriguchi is developing a new piece, 4D CINEMA, during a month-long residency at Frankfurt LAB this summer. Co-run by renowned organisations including Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and The Forsythe Company, Frankfurt LAB has supported the development of many performance projects.

In 4D CINEMA, Mamoru Iriguchi is seen performing live with a host of Hollywood movie stars, many of whom are now dead. Set in a cinema and employing black and white classic film clips and newly filmed footage, 4D CINEMA is a performance piece that explores what liveness and pre-recorded-ness means to us in this day and age where new technology is constantly blurring the boundary between true and virtual realities.

Toying with the boundaries in multimedia, using digital imageries both as a means of critiquing tired ideas and as a way of escaping them, Iriguchi is constantly physicalizing the digital.  – Amelia Forsbrook, Exeunt Magazine ★ ★ ★ ★ on Mamoru Iriguchi's Triple Bill at The Place

4D CINEMA is a Chelsea Theatre commission for Sacred. Supported by Frankfurt LAB, The Place, Artsadmin and GOlive. Early development of $D CINEMA was supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
