“You are in the great sweep of eternity — powerful, primal, full of movement and holding your instincts in a fluid and embracing way.”
– Anne Bean in an email to Poppy Jackson

Since performing Site on the roof of Artsadmin in 2015, Poppy has experienced the death of her father, a disability diagnosis of ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the birth of her daughter Elora and a subsequent recovery to health. Supporting her survival and transformation through these significant life shifts were a richly visual email dialogue with an artist holding enduring influence on her practice, Anne Bean, as well as an Artsadmin Bursary.

On the occasion of Elora's first birthday, Poppy and Anne discuss their correspondence on the life cycle, alongside key works from Poppy’s Artsadmin Bursary period which have aided a reclamation of life and practice.

About
Poppy Jackson is an actionist artist celebrating the female body as an autonomous zone. Since the late 1960s Anne Bean has been making work that ‘makes strange our sense of time, memory, language, the body, and identity, particularly through solo and collaborative performances along a vital continuum between art and life.’
