In a bleak and empty attic a solitary figure in boots and greatcoat is both lured and repelled by a magic desk that becomes the gateway to another world.

“Ostensibly about a man alone in a stone tower, the works power evolves from the succession of unanticipated discoveries that he makes going through a magical desk. …leaves, nuts, stones, water, evolve in a dramatic kaleidoscope of evocative images.”

Rose Anne Thom, Dance Magazine 1998

“Simon Whitehead  gives a virtuoso performance in this dance work that explores the relationship between man and landscape.”

Francesco Turner, The Guardian 1998
