Macrocosm (1999)

1999

Macrocosm dealt with the different levels of perception of a situation when a body, due to exterior elements, becomes the centre of attention.

The perception of the one who watches (audience), the one who acts on the body (manipulator) and the one who is the centre of attention (dancer) were totally different.

Macrocosm included these contrasting viewpoints and placed those participants in a live situation where the facts are not just represented but experienced.

macrocosme: nom masculin
L’univers extérieur dans sa relation analogique avec l’homme (microcosme), dans la tradition ésotérique et alchimique.

macrocosm: noun
The exterior universe in its analogic relation to man (microcosm), in the esoteric tradition and alchemy.

Macrocosm was a 25 minute solo for Nuria de Ulibarri, with lights manipulated by the choreographer, who also mixed live music specially composed by Franz Treichler.

Choreography by Gilles Jobin
