GARY STEVENS
LIVE ART UNPACKED
2008
Gary Stevens will present a series of works at Centre d’Art Contemporain in Geneva between 4 – 7 March as part of the programme Live Art Unpacked. Works shown by Gary during this time include:
Slow Life, a five-screen video installation with sound where everyday domestic scenes are played very, very slowly in real time; and the performance
Not Tony in which a single performer plays multiple personalities within a family. A conflict emerges between them as the performer tries to keep up with the complex system reminiscent of a quick-change hat routine. Following the performance Gary will present an illustrated lecture
Thought Bubble, focusing on his current live works together with his recent interactive video installation. During the week, Gary will be working with local artists and students on a series of masterclass-workshops.
Live Art Unpacked, Geneva runs from 4 – 15 March. Led by UK based artists and organisers, including Gary Stevens, Joshua Sofaer, Lois Weaver and the Live Art Development Agency, Live Art Unpacked, Geneva is a series of events about and around Live Art in the UK: what it is and what it can do. Unpicking ideas and practices, and sharing a diversity of approaches, Live Art Unpacked, Geneva features performances; video installations; lectures and discussions; practice based workshops; screenings; and information and advice for emergent artists and students. Developed by La Ribot and Centre d'Art Contemporain Genève in collaboration with Live Art Development Agency, London as part of La Ribot’s Rite of Spring.
