RECONNAISSANCE

1998

The 1,200 acres of Norbury Park in Surrey were charted by Graeme Miller and artist Mary Lemley in a commission from Surrey County Council, with contributions of local people - professional, amateur and non-musicians alike. Initially individuals were asked to contribute a short phase of music, relating to a specific place in the park. The resulting map and musical score evoked a shared sense of place.

Commissioned by Surrey County Council, South East Arts and the Arts Council of England for the Norbury Park Arts Project.
