Mem Morrison

2004 – 2005

South London in the 70s. A school on a hill. A bunch of pubescent kids and a boy who didn’t fit in. Imagine what happened.

Undo was twenty years in the making but Mem Morrison resolved to face his demons and return to South East London to track down and confront the bullies who tormented him throughout his youth. Shifting subjectively between live performance and film documentary, Mem pieced together traces of his past through present day encounters as he attempted to unravel the complex psychology of oppressor and oppressed.

Undo was originally commissioned by ROH2 and the Helen Hamlyn Trust. It was developed as part of an Arts Council Live Art Fellowship at the Sophiensaele in Berlin and is supported by The Albany, Deptford where Mem was Artist in Residence during April 2005.

Undo premiered at The Albany, Deptford in May 2005 and went on to be performed at Contact Theatre, Manchester, Colchester Arts Centre and The Drill Hall. Undo completed its tour at Birmingham Rep Studio as part of the Fierce! Festival 2006.
