Artsadmin is pleased to announce the recipients for the 2018/19 BANNER award: Sharon Fraser and artistic duo, Lorie Jo Trainor Buckingham and Ana Vicente.

BANNER is a programme for artists graduating from art school led by Artsadmin in partnership with Goldsmiths University of London and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, with additional support from Live Art Development Agency.

Artsadmin started BANNER in 2014 and has supported recent graduate artists to transition into the professional sphere through a holistic programme of ongoing dialogue and research gatherings, culminating in a showcase for a mixed audience of the public, artists, programmers and producers.

BANNER reflects Artsadmin’s core mission to support bold and compelling art-making process and practice through artist development, education and producing.

Since 2014 BANNER has supported four graduates from MA Performance Making at Goldsmiths; Umama Hamido, Cori Williams, Teddy May de Kock and Elinor Lewis and three graduates from BA Contemporary Performance Practice at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland; Nima Sené, Gudrun Soley Sigurdardottir, Thulani Rachia.

“BANNER has provided me with an artistically nurturing and professionally supportive transition out of academia.”

Elinor Lewis

About the BANNER 2018/19 artists

Sharon Fraser is an Urban Artist from Glasgow and is a graduate of the BA Contemporary Performance Practice at Royal Conservatoire Scotland. She explores her political voice in performance through autobiographical story-telling with a strong Glasgow dialect. Also a Mother to four children, her work explores domesticity and draws on her experiences using Live Art as the main artery to her work.

Lorie Jo Trainor Buckingham and Ana Vicente met in 2016 on the MA Performance Making at Goldsmiths, University of London and have been working as a collaborative duo ever since. Prior to their MA they both had individual fine art practices which they developed over the past fifteen years. Together, they create site specific work exploring the body in space and time, generating real-time experiences to induce a phenomenological state of attention and focus for the viewer.
