The Haircut Before The Party (THCBTP) has created a new reading room at The Salon on Toynbee Street. The collection comprises of donations ranging from insurrectionary texts, economic analysis and sociological theory and is available to all. You can also bring your USB stick or print off an article from the PDF archive (made possible by USB Crew and David Graeber).

To celebrate the opening of the reading room, PDF fileshare and first chapbook publications,THCBTP have invited writer Michael Harding create an original script in 10 parts that takes inspiration from the collection and will be performed at the opening. There will be other special guests ncluding local writer Gerry King who will be reading from his book Lubin Tales.

“The task at hand seems to me to be not one of liberation from confinement, but rather one of undoing the very possibilities of containment.”
Irit Rogoff

This month at the salon, THCBTP will continue trimming, undercutting, zip-zapping, left-parting, hair-splitting as well as looking at the wide subject of housing and asking what are your views on the governments proposal to criminalise squatting?

Also throughout the month THCBTP will build up a discussion around housing issues in the city and beyond including the upcoming Dale Farm eviction.
