XENON is a poignant political allegory based on a performance art opera by Mikhail Karikis exploring the theme of the ‘stranger’. Created in collaboration with the artist/filmmaker David Bickerstaff, the film depicts seven workers in a dystopian office haunted by the unusual absence of one of their colleagues. The film develops an abstract audiovisual narrative where each character searches for their voice, dignity and human rights.

With performances by acclaimed choreographer Maurice Causey, vocalists Elaine Mitchener, Juice Vocal Ensemble, Amy Cunningham, Jade Pybus, violist Conall Gleeson, and performance artists Monica Ross and Mikhail Karikis.

XENON the film will be exclusively available as an on-demand DVD through Unbound, the Live Art Development Agency’s online shop for Live Art books, DVDs and editions.

XENON is funded by Arts Council England and the University of Brighton.
