The Haircut Before the Party (THBTP)
Open 12pm – 7pm
Radical hairdresser collective The Haircut Before the Party (THBTP) have given up their salon in Whitechapel and are on the move.
Kicking off their 2012 “line of flight” at the opening weekend of Fierce festival in Birmingham, they will set up the first of their mobile hairdressing salons in the festival hub. Over the weekend they will be open to locals for free haircuts and the chance to explore the relationship between individual and differing notions of what radical change can look like.
Starting their journey in Birmingham they will go on to travel around the UK and Europe, attempting to uncover what it means to create radical and collective forms of life and political change. At a whole host of festivals, spaces and events THBTP will pop up in different forms, utilising degrees of mobility, from bike mounted salons to temporary constructivist-inspired kiosks.
To get involved in the discussion or to book a free haircut email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “Fierce Cuts”.
