Underscore
Mem Morrison
Created especially for Wandsworth Park’s 300m avenue of trees, Mem Morrison’s Underscore is a sonic journey through the Thames – from Richmond Pier through to the Thames Gateway.
Using underwater recordings taken at several points along the Thames, created with sound designer and long-time collaborator Andy Pink, Mem will create a human version of the river with 25 local participants.
Playing with the imagery of boat signwriting and echoing the passing rowing races, Underscore will heighten the architecture and alignment of trees, both visually and aurally.
The Shimmy is an afternoon of outdoor arts encounters like you’ve never had before. Programmed by Wandsworth Arts Team as part of Wandsworth’s annual Arts Festival, it takes place in all the different spaces along the river from Putney Bridge, through Putney Wharf, Deodar Road and into Wandsworth Park.
