LACE: Standstill Open Beach Hut

2pm-5pm, Drop in anytime
FREE

In preparation for her performance-installation piece Standstill which will be performed on 1 & 2, 8 & 9 September, artist Abi Cunliffe invites you to her Beach Hut to meet, greet, take time out and just have a good old-fashioned conversation.

Over a cup of tea and a biscuit Abi will talk through some of her ideas behind Standstill and in turn get your views on why modern life can feel so hectic, and more importantly what makes you take stock and relax. Feel free to drop in anytime during the afternoon to meet Abi and share your thoughts.

The Open Beach Hut is part of Abi's development of Standstill, a 20 minute one-on-one performance installation where the audience is invited to slow down, stand still, pause, meander and… breathe. Experimenting with sound and silence, found objects and glimpses through windows, Abi will create a space to capture a moment for yourself inside a beach hut in the fashionably unfashionable seaside town of Brightlingsea in Essex.

Travel Information:
The nearest main train station is Colchester. Audiences can take the No. 78 bus from Colchester Town Centre to Brightlingsea Victoria Place.

Standstill is supported by Colchester Arts Centre. Abi Cunliffe is part of Live Art Collective East, a group of 12 artists that are devising several projects happening all over the East of England in summer 2012.
