Oo La Lume: Song-Seek

7.30pm, £4

Oo La Lume present and curate an eclectic night of original music. Song-Seek is a night for all those who love discovering new acts and sounds. Song-Seek is a platform for emerging artists as well as a launch pad for Oo La Lume’s own songs.

Oo La Lume sing and shout and rein-in sways of folk, experimental, blues and soul music with close (and sometimes far) harmony vocals. Their music is crafted by three travelling voices, along with their shared love of beautiful, unsettling and stirring harmonies. Come and join them and their invited guests (to be revealed soon…) at the Arts Bar and Cafe of Toynbee Studios.

Slow Wolf

Slow Wolf like the city, but dream of mountains, forests, the sea, and rocks – big rocks; and log cabins, they're pretty good. They are a folk band with more than a touch of blues; they interweave finger picking from the hills with soulful fiddle hooks, intricate guitar lines from the desert and haunting vocals, while delicate bouzouki, brooding bass and driving percussion round up the pack. Slow Wolf will take you to the cliff – but it is up to you to leap into the sea.

Martha Rose

Martha Rose began writing songs in the Berlin anti-folk scene 4 years ago, but her music now has taken her far from those early days. Her sound is visceral yet beguiling, and her experiences playing BBC and XFM Sessions, and on European tours, have honed her into a must-see live act.

Office of Aurora

Office of Aurora began life by the sea many moons ago, evolving from a bedroom project into a series of collaborations between friends from bands from Brighton and London. Since a move to the big city, while continuing to call on old friends for writing and recording, the performing arm of the group has consolidated into a duo who play laconic, hymn like music about love, hate, life and death built around minimal arrangements of guitar, keyboard and intertwining vocal lines.
