Melt Down was originally one of a quartet of short pieces performed in open spaces in central London that combined to make up Square Dances.

Originally set beneath a tree in Brunswick Square, Rosemary Lee reimagines this performance created for Dance Umbrella 2011, relocating it to an urban environment. Set to a tolling bell, Melt Down conveys a quiet intensity that is both absorbing and thought-provoking.

A deceptively simple work for an ensemble of 30 men, its central image is open to a rich myriad of interpretations. This is movement at its most powerful and contemplative, set against the dramatic regenerated skyline of the King’s Cross area.
