A ResCen symposium curated by Rosemary Lee in association with Martin Welton (Queen Mary University of London)
This symposium will bring together an exciting range of presenters and guests from different disciplines to share their responses to and understanding of the notion of care within their specific contexts. This will include spoken presentation, films, installations, and live works.
Originating from Rosemary Lee’s reflections on her cross-generational work Common Dance (2009), this event will simultaneously mark the launch of a new DVD published by ResCen. Also entitled, On Taking Care, this DVD will reveal and explore the themes and processes behind the making of Common Dance. Extracts of this DVD will be presented and a film of Common Dance will also be screened at the symposium.
Contributors include Anne-Marie Rafferty, Professor of Nursing Policy at the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery at King’s College London; Jane Wiffin, Freelance Social Care Consultant; Joe Smith, Senior Lecturer in Environment at Open University; Raymond Tallis, Physician and Writer; Artists, Chris Goode, Graeme Miller, Florence Peake, Miranda Tufnell, Jo Bannon, Rachel Gomme and Marcus Coates.
ResCen symposium presented in association with the Department of Drama, Queen Mary University of London, South East Dance and Artsadmin.
