Lachrymae

“…tree bark, rough and furrowed, crept on upwards over their bodies, throats, faces…….
Through that bark, there oozed lymph like tears……….” [Ted Hughes, Tales from Ovid]
Inspired by the transformation of girls to trees and tears to amber in Ted Hughes’ adaptation of Ovid’s Metamorphoses, Artmusic have created an immersive sound and sculptural installation through Wandsworth Park’s Avenue of Trees.
As you meander through the natural architecture of the avenue, chance upon live choirs, whispers of music and teardrop sculptures – all through amber-tinted lenses.
Lachrymae is created by composer Helen Ottaway, sound designer Alastair Goolden and artists Rowena Pearce and Tim Millar. The CD Lachrymae, 5 laments for voice and violin, will be available from 19th May 2013, at the Shimmy and through the Artmusic website
Lachrymae is created by Artmusic and produced by Artsadmin, commissioned by Wandsworth Arts Festival.
