Florence Peake's MAKE takes an irreverent look at how sculpture is created, displayed and maintained. A task force of female performers build and then dismantle a monolithic structure through a series of choreographed actions which ritualise, parody and unveil the often hidden labour of art-making.
MAKE unpicks conceptual art and takes a sideways look at the great masculine heroes of the minimalist canon; Donald Judd, Carl Andre and Dan Flavin.
MAKE for Young London at V22 will be performed by Iris Chan, Katye Coe, Rachel Gildea, Amaara Raheem, Susanna Recchia, Nikki Tomlinson, Rosalie Wahlfrid.
MAKE has previously been shown at BALTIC (2013) and Yorkshire Sculpture Park (2012).
Produced by Dance Art Foundation and funded by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
