This event aims to introduce the practice of live artist jamie lewis hadley.
jamie will explore how his experiences as a professional wrestler and medical trial volunteer have informed his arts practice. This event acts as the official launch for his latest and most ambitious project Blood on the Streets; a series of 10 performances taking place in the window of barbershops around the UK. These performances will explore the historical role of the barber-surgeon. Invited speakers will give presentations on the history of bloodletting as both a medical and artistic practice.
jamie lewis hadley is a live artist based in London. His practice revolves around the use of his own blood as a material, politics and pedagogy. His current area of research and creative output involves collaboration with Prof. Vishy Mahadevan and Dr Belinda Fenty and focuses on the history of bloodletting as a medical practice. He is currently a recipient of the Artsadmin artists bursary award.
