BANNER
is a new Artsadmin initiative which presents bold and compelling work by artists leaving art school. This November, BANNER will feature three works by recently graduated artists working across disciplines; Faye Green, ‘My Name is B’ (Emma Berentsen, Umit Erlim, Anthony Keigher and Tiffany Murphy) and Rosa Farber.

Artists

Faye Green | Undone

If it wasn't for the ground and if it wasn't for the ground.

This is the story I've been telling myself about stopping. This is my ceasing, seizing, unceasing narrative of seizure. And where does it start? How can I begin to tell you how I have gained weight in the night and woken so much thinner?

I've been putting my mouth around things -

...

Undone is a solo performance work exploring the troubled language of the tactile body. Centrally concerned with the transposition of desires of difference across and between bodies, Undone seeks to articulate bodily histories of encounter: the touches that make and unmake, bind and unbind.

Faye Green (Sheffield, UK, 1989) is a live artist and writer currently based in the North-East of England. After graduating from Fine Art at Newcastle University she won the Converse/Dazed and Confused Emerging Artist Award 2013. With a visual arts background, her practice draws from multiple disciplines including theatre, dance and performance studies.

My Name is B

My name is B and tonight I will turn twenty one.
They locked me up in here, my private theatre.
They say that I am mad.
I want what I want, and I want it now.

My Name is B is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Red Shoes and by the case of Anna O. Anna O was the pseudonym of a patient of Josef Breuer, who published her case study in his book Studies on Hysteriawritten in collaboration with Sigmund Freud. This striking performance looking at obsession, celebrity and endurance was created during the MA in Performance Making at Goldsmiths, University of London by Emma Berentsen, Umit Erlim, Anthony Keigher and Tiffany Murphy.

Rosa Farber | Please be seated and remain standing

Rosa Farber’s audience is looking forward to the evening and to see what young talent and recently graduated artists have to offer.

Reader: I wonder if Rosa wonders about what I wonder.

Rosa has just completed a BA in Mixed Media Fine Art at the University of Westminster. Her practice explores audience participation as a moment of shared experience and exchange. Her participatory scripts are employed site specifically, relating and relying on certain expectations of the audience members and institutional set-ups. Rosa seeks to question the viewer’s active or passive engagement, as well as her position as the artist... do you know what I mean?
