Jo Hellier: Festival of Ancients making session
1-5pm. Free. Bring plastic bags. This event is part of 2 Degrees Festival's day-long Tomorrow Now programme on Saturday 10 June.
Talk about the future and how we will be remembered as we weave structures communally out of a material which is destroying our environment.
Plastic bags are a dying breed. Get to know this familiar material inside out before they become relics.
Join Jo Hellier’s weaving circle to craft up a storm. Bring your own bags and turn them into something beautiful. Ponder on the meaning of supermarket slogan’s and embroider new slogans on bags, with bags.
Together we will create part of Jo’s installation, Festival of Ancients, which takes place the following Saturday. However, this workshop is really about enjoying crafting together and how the act of communal craft can be an amazing environment for conversation.
