Shadowplay

Decolonising Our Minds and Khidr Collective host the next instalment of Shadowplay – an evening showcasing the work of both established and aspiring artists across all artforms.

This month they focus on film, in particular short film-makers.

Surviving School is a film by by Sky Caesar, Georgia Moona-Sam and Dhelia Snoussi. From shame around free school meals, to school exclusion, to racism from teachers, the film explores the issues plaguing the education system from the perspectives of young, BME and working class students. Dhelia to discuss the film and her work after the screening.

And they Knew Light by Caleb Femi (Young People's Laureate) merges Caleb's touching poetry with the hopeful and joyous soundtrack made by Rui Da Silva. The film follows a group of South London young people in an estate in Peckham. Rui will host a discussion of his music, the making of the film and his work as co-director of organisation, Decolonising Education.
