Homework Club: Touring Strategy

Artsadmin’s Homework Club is a welcoming space for performance-based and multi-disciplinary artists, producers, and creatives to come together, learn and make progress on projects.

Sessions encourage you to make space in your week to tackle tasks you’ve been putting off, whilst getting valuable feedback and support from Artsadmin’s producers. Each Homework Club includes an informative workshop followed by open co-working time.

Building on the success and model of our DYCP Homework Clubs, this is a pilot series focussed on the arts administration topics artists have told us they need.

About this session

This session will equip you with the tools you need to develop or update a touring strategy, including budget add-ons, preparing and reading contracts, and tour pack/dossier essentials. We’ll give advice on negotiating with festivals and venues, and how to care for yourself and your company.

The first hour of this session will feature an informative presentation by Jialin Hong, Artsadmin’s Producer (Projects & Touring). Afterwards, the space will become an open co-working session that you’re welcome to drop in and out of.

What to expect:

  • A relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and supportive environment, held by Artsadmin’s programme team
  • Facilitation by Artsadmin’s Producers, with more on hand to provide a sounding board for thoughts or ideas
  • Time and space to connect with other artists and creatives
  • A focus on making progress with your own projects

Who is it for?

Homework Clubs welcome artists and creatives at all stages of their career. However, learning content is geared towards emerging practitioners and mid-career professionals who want to build confidence in the admin side of their practice – without losing sight of their artistic goals. This session is specifically for those who want to develop a touring plan (strategy), or update and improve existing work.

Why join?

Because admin doesn’t have to be boring or isolating. Homework Clubs are about active, collaborative learning, sharing experiences, and staying connected to your practice – with the support of a creative community.

What should I prepare to get the most out of the session?

Bring your work, questions, ideas, and a willingness to work alongside others.
