Ajaykumar is: an artist; an academic at Goldsmiths University of London; co-director of the shapes-design studio: collaborating with an architect and product designer to engender playful furniture, lighting, and gardens, and items that come into ‘being’ through the play of others; a curator; and a member of Transnational Art, Identity and Nation (TrAIN): a research centre of the University of the Arts, London.
His ongoing generative internet artwork iPak – 10,000 songs, 10,000 images, 10,000 abuses (turbulence.org/Works/iPak), initially supported by an Artsadmin digital media bursary, was launched in March 2008. iPak is a playful, inter-active online gallery synthesising users’ creativity, random generation of works by a computer, and art engendered by Ajaykumar. iPak comes into ‘being’ through participation.
