Up In Arms Spring Residency

In Spring 2026, Anna Maria Nabirye and Annie Saunders undertook a residency in Ucross, Wyoming, to further the development of Up In Arms.

Nabirye and Saunders spent the spring of 2026 in residence at UCross working on the narrative chronological sections of their book, which will appear as side-by-side accounts of each phase of the project from their differing points of view, alongside essays and interviews with past participants in the work and other artists working across racial differences, a large collection of images from Up In Arms, and practical exercises for intersectional collaboration.
