Reza Aramesh

Profile

My work involves interrogation of cultures and traditions that leads to the questioning of moral and social values by irrational, absurd and playful means.

By combining different visual languages to arrive at an ambivalence scenario, I intend to question mainstream preconceptions of the self and to create a critical view of our present social values. In ‘I am a believer’ I used the existing Changing The Guards ceremony and collaged it with various movements, marching routines, and marching music of Nazi youth, Nation of Islam etc. This was performed against the backdrop of Trafalgar Square to question the fixed nature of cultural identities.
