Easier said than run
Philippa Barr, Development Associate at Artsadmin, is running the London Marathon to raise money for Artsadmin’s education and artist development programmes. She tells us why she’s embarking on this 26-mile challenge…
“All winter I’ve been plagued with injuries and self-doubt leading to me resisting telling people that I’m running the London Marathon. But last weekend I had breakthrough – running 27 km in a snowstorm didn’t kill me (much as I thought it would!). Plodding the streets of London amidst the snow, wind and cold and arriving home in one (albeit frozen) piece made me realise that I can actually do this damn marathon! However… I’ve still got the hardest month ahead of me.
This is where you all come in. I desperately need a cheer squad to get me through my last month of marathon training and to get me to the start line on 22 April.
I’m running in support of Artsadmin, an incredible arts charity that I’ve had the privilege to work with for over a decade. I’d like to raise £1,000 to specifically support their Artist Development team and all the amazing education projects and support they provide for artists at every stage of their careers.
It would be fantastic if you could help get me through the next month and raise some cash for this brilliant charity. Many thanks, you lovely people!”
