The Museu Serralves presents “The 1980s: A Typology”. The exhibition addresses this decade, considering it a highly important period in ending the highly conceptualist approaches of the 1960s and 1970s, and as a time of incubation for the radical changes which marked the 1990s with the virtual dissolution of previous exclusivities of East/West and North/South.

In parallel to the exhibition the Serralves Auditorium presents a performing arts, cinema and video program with documents and live performances by artists whose work surfaced during the 80s and who have maintained challenging and essential work until today.
