Graeme Miller
Stretching across from Hackney Marshes to Redbridge, the M11 Link Road was completed in 1999 after the demolition of 400 houses amid dramatic and passionate protest. Artist Graeme Miller has filled the empty spaces these buildings once occupied with a treasure trail of sound celebrating a century of everyday moments in East End life. 20 radio transmitters constantly broadcast spoken and musical recollections of the houses and buildings destroyed by the creation of the M11 Link Road.
Receivers can be collected from Leyton Library (E10), Harrow Green Library (E11), Leytonstone Library (E11), Wanstead Library (E11), Redbridge Museum (IG1) and Vestry House Museum (E17).
