Panel discussion
Ackroyd & Harvey
Heather Ackroyd will be part of a panel discussion as part of this event, talking about the FlyTower project.
No-one can predict the consequences of climate change with complete certainty, but it is accepted by many that climate change presents serious global risks. Africa is faced both with tremendous threats and great opportunities. It is set to be damaged the most, and yet has probably benefited the least from the causes of climate change. But it also has the opportunity to develop and adopt new, appropriate and sustainable technologies. Yet African voices – ranging from sceptical to the passionately converted – are largely absent from the international debate on climate change.
This symposium brings together a cross-disciplinary group to give voice to this range of perspectives, and to discuss how artists, technologists and scientists can lead African responses to climate change.
