IGNITION

IGNITION

Frantic Assembly is thrilled to launch IGNITION 2009: an exciting, new physical theatre project for young men aged 16 – 20 in East London. All activities are FREE to take part in and no previous experience of physical theatre is necessary. This is a unique opportunity to work with a renowned UK theatre company and try out Frantic Assembly’s highly energetic style of physical theatre.

Frantic Assembly is one of the UK’s leading contemporary theatre companies, producing thrilling, energetic and uncompromising new work. Since its formation in 1994 the company has toured extensively throughout the UK and internationally, establishing a reputation for excellence with work that places equal emphasis on movement, design, music and text. Frantic Assembly works with young people across the UK, engaging over 5,000 participants each year.

IGNITION has been designed to raise aspirations amongst young men, building confidence and broadening horizons. The highly physical, energetic and creative activities promote team work, discipline and a sense of achievement. Activities are open to all young men aged 16 – 20 in East London, but preference will be will be given to those living or working in Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Newham and Islington. We are especially keen to involve young men who do not usually take part in theatre or dance activities.

Frantic is offering a series of FREE taster workshops in London, and we hope to encourage a wide and diverse group of young men to take part. Following this there will be a workshop audition for those wishing to join the FREE 4 Day Intensive. The intensive is a one-off opportunity to work with Frantic’s award-winning Artistic Directors. Intensive participants will create a unique piece of physical theatre to perform on the final day for a live audience. Individuals taking part in the intensive will receive a daily allowance towards expenses and free theatre tickets to see a professional production in London. Participants in the 4 Day Intensive will also gain an accredited award through the London Open College Network.
