Middlesea

Zineb Sedira's Middlesea is an airy meditation on migration, identity and displacement as part of the eternal churn and movement of different peoples along the various currents, real and political, that carry them to and from their homelands, and the friction such movements can create — something Sedira, a French citizen of North African heritage, can appreciate well enough. Middlesea is set on a ship crossing the Mediterranean, from Tangiers to Marseille, and consists of a 16 mm film as well as a suite of photographs.
