Island

Following a ‘scratch’ performance at London’s BAC earlier this year Gary is now planning on touring Island, a new ensemble piece for five performers. In a similar vein to Not Tony, he wittily weaves an intricate web of connections, this time between five apparent strangers as a sense of recognition leads them to either invent or recall relationships. They point accusingly at one another, holding each other transfixed, mortified by the gesture. They reluctantly adopt the names given to them and retaliate by inflicting a role on one of the others. An increasingly complex network grows up between them until it collapses back into isolation and anonymity.
