PAINKILLERS

In PAINKILLERS, Mamoru Iriguchi explores physical pain, obesity and body image through a series of magic tricks. A magician’s assistant sporting a vast knitted fatsuit, he is at the mercy of knives, saws and guns, conjuring scenes from backstage, onstage and everywhere in between.

Commissioned by Chelsea Theatre, PAINKILLERS is supported by Arts Council England and National Theatre Studio. Mamoru Iriguchi is an Artsadmin Associate Artist 2012 – 14.

Mamoru Iriguchi is a performance maker and award-winning theatre designer. Recent work includes Pregnant?!, Projector/Conjector and One Man Show (The Place Prize commission). His theatre design includes Mincemeat (Cardboard Citizens, Best Design, Evening Standard Theatre Awards).
