Influences

Throughout the summer artist Phoebe Davies has been working with young women from One Mile Away in Birmingham to explore current attitudes to gender equality, feminism, female expectations and individual agency.

Building upon her evolving project Nailwraps Influences Phoebe and the group will be using the contemporary culture of nail art to create a new set of nailwraps depicting people of personal influence or significance bespoke for Fierce Festival 2014.

For the opening weekend of the festival the nailwraps will be applied and distributed from a public nail bar run by participants, which will act as a site for conversation and exchanging opinions and ideas, questioning what feminism means to young women today.
