Handmade Weekend

Photo by Paul Blackemore for Mayfest Bristol.

Artsadmin has joined forces with Discover, to present a special weekend of activities and performance for children, created by a selection of young artists from across Europe.

They have transformed everyday objects into wonderfully eccentric, imaginary worlds that intrigue, surprise and delight young audiences and participants.

Tim Spooner, The Assembly of Animals
28 February, 11.30am, 1pm, 2.30pm, 4pm (3+ yrs)
Tim Spooner delicately combines scientific demonstration and puppetry to create a kind of magical performed sculpture.

Tuur Marinuus, 3ON3
1 March, 1pm, 3pm (8-11 yrs)
Choreographer Tuur Marinnuus leads a movement workshop, in which the young audience will become human dominoes as they explore using their bodies like objects and create dances with boxes.

Trails Tales
28 February – 1 March (4+ yrs, accompanied by an adult)
Throughout the weekend, children can become part of a life-size board game. As they journey through a huge cardboard forest they can create their own fairytales encountering such places as The House of the Dwarf, Rapunzel’s Tower and The Lost Mountain.

These three works have been created through the European network Bamboo, a consortium of partners aiming to nurture innovative work by emerging artists for children and their families, supported by European Union’s Culture Programme.
