SHELL LIKE (Jennifer Boyd and Amy Pettifer) explore the physical sensation of uneasy, shifting time on the body through a programme of newly commissioned and existing recorded audio works by UK and international artists and writers, including Josie Rae Turnbull, Gray Wielebinski, Larry Achiampong, Jessica Harby, Heather Phillipson, Eunjung Kim, Alex Borkowski and Jennifer Boyd.
During an hour of collective listening, striving treatises and weird meditations on time will reverberate inside Toynbee Studios Court Room, whose wood panelled walls were salvaged from the library of an ocean liner. The programme will consider the substances and sensations that allow for evasion of capitalist time and the ways in which the body and voice can take us towards a new surrealism.
Please arrive promptly by 7.30pm as the doors will be closed once the listening hour begins. Latecomers will not be admitted.
