Empathy Museum

A Mile in My Shoes for Clare Patey’s Empathy Museum. Photo by Kate Raworth.

What is it like to have been a prisoner of war? To be a sex worker, miner or refugee? Or to have rediscovered love in your eighties? The Empathy Museum invites you to take a moment to look at the world through someone else's eyes.

After touring to Brazil, Belgium and Russia, this Autumn, Empathy Museum is coming back to the UK, bringing three different versions of 'A Mile in My Shoes' to Lake District, Brighton and Scotland. Curated by artist Clare Patey, 'A Mile in My Shoes' is an interactive shoe shop where you can literally walk a mile in someone else's shoes.

Launched in 2015, the Empathy Museum is the first experiential arts space dedicated to helping us all look at the world through other people’s eyes. It explores how empathy can not only transform our personal relationships but also help tackle global challenges such as prejudice, conflict and inequality.
