COP24 Industry Briefing

METIS, WE KNOW NOT WHAT WE MAY BE (part of Season for Change). Photo by David Sandison.

5-7pm. Free, booking essential.

What will happen at COP24 and what will it mean for the arts sector?

In the run up to the COP24 negotiations in Katowice this December, Season for Change is holding an early evening session for individuals and organisations in the UK cultural sector with an interest in environment and climate change, and how their work fits into the global political context.

The session will present an overview of current scientific research and explore the key objectives for this year’s talks with an eminent scientist working in environmental science to set the context for the evening. We will then explore the role of culture in the environmental movement, looking at examples of where our work has transformed the conversation around climate change. We will be joined by artists and practitioners in the field who will explore what COP means for us, and how we can address the key ideas in our own work.

The session will include plenty of time for questions, discussion and a chance to meet other impressive individuals. Following the main session, there will be a brief tour of the National Theatre’s backstage green initiatives for anyone interested in exploring best practice in venue management, and a reception generously supported by the National Theatre.

The COP24 Industry Briefing is co-led by Artsadmin and Julie's Bicycle with generous support from the National Theatre.
