Guest Artist Support Sessions: Nando Messias

Nando Messias.

We all need a little support right now, and Artsadmin’s Artist Support team is here for you. In addition to re-opening our one-to-one Creative Support Service in March, we’ve invited six fantastic artists who are each offering six one-hour sessions in March and April. These sessions are a place to speak about the big ideas of your art and dig into the creative corners you might feel stuck in.

Nando Messias is a London based performance artist, choreographer and queer academic.

Introduction from Nando:
My name is Nando. I am a trans, non-binary performance artist and researcher. My work is based on my lived experience and deals with social violence and exclusion. I am originally from Brazil but have been living and working in London since 2003.

I have an MA in Performance and a PhD from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. I am a freelance artist and have experience in devising autobiographical, solo work and teaching. I have written critical essays using queer theory to analyse my work. As well as my solo work, I have worked in collaboration with other artists and have worked independently as a movement director. While I would prioritise speaking with Trans, non-binary, queer artists I’m happy to talk to any artist who needs support.

These sessions are now filled but you can still book a Creative Support Session with one of the Artsadmin team.

This workshop series is supported by The National Lottery Community Fund.
