Up In Arms, Residency at Cortex Frontal, Arraiolos, PT

In October 2025, Anna Maria Nabirye and Annie Saunders undertook a residency at Cortex Frontal, Arraiolos, to further the development of Up In Arms.

Nabirye and Saunders spent a month in residence at Cortex Frontal, developing and editing the chronological sections of their book. They worked on expanding the practical exercise sections to take different forms (a diagram, a graphic, a checklist), creating new processes for transcribing and editing conversations for thematic sections, including creating ‘visual’ edits of the texts with typographic design and colorblocking, and developed a methodology for the narrative chronological sections, which will appear as side-by-side accounts of each phase of the project from their differing points of view.
