Happy Earth Day
Happy Earth Day from Artsadmin. In honour of the day we are celebrating just a few of our green successes. We’re also putting forward some future aims:
Energy
Successes
- Since installing our solar panels in 2014 we have generated 17114 Kwh of electricity saving around 9 tonnes of CO2
- Our solar panels have also saved us over £4000
- In 2015 we moved to a renewable energy supplier meaning ALL of our electricity comes from renewable sources
Aim
Even though we use renewable energy sources it is still important to reduce overall usage as currently renewable energy sources are limited and demand is ever increasing. For 2016/17 we’ll be looking into schemes and incentives to use less energy, from turning off our computers in the evening to switching bulbs to LEDs.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Successes
- We use scrap paper for printing and for our visitor logbook
- We now have recycling bins in all of our studio spaces and in the corridors
- As well as the regular items, we now recycle toner and ink cartridges, batteries, pens, all electrical goods and light bulbs
- We have reduced our amount of printed materials and have repurposed old stock for greetings cards
Aims
- To encourage our hirers to be more active and conscientious recyclers
- To reuse or repurpose as much as possible, buying second-hand goods where possible
How these changes have come about through the organisation
We have:
- A green policy
- A green action plan
- A green section in all staff meetings
- A green champion
- A green team
- Green team meetings
- A green staff handbook
Aims
- To renew our green policy and action plan
- To be more ambitious
- To communicate our successes more
