Bob Levene

Bob’s work explores the culture, languages and rules that are synonymous with recording and communication technologies, she uses these tools of mediation to play with their conventions.

Through a process of experimentation she investigates how an action or object relates to the sound it makes and how that alters when mediated, exploring the literal and physical limitations of the reproduction. The technology not only documents the enquiry but also becomes part of the work. Although serious in her approach the work often has a playfulness and sometimes absurdity to it, it manifests as installations, sculpture objects, performances and videos.
