Brahim Jumaa

Profile

Brahim Jumaa is a Syrian theatre-maker, dramaturg, and workshop facilitator working across performance, dramaturgy, and collaborative creation. His practice combines devised and physical approaches with research-driven dramaturgy, creating intimate, visually precise, and socially and politically engaged theatrical experiences. He often works with meta-theatrical structures, non-linear dramaturgies, and minimal scenographies. His ongoing research explores imagination and its relationship to lived reality, particularly how images, narratives, and anticipation shape what we perceive and experience. He is an IETM Global Connector 2026.

“I’ll be spending the residency developing the performance language of Where’s My Heart?!. I want to explore how imagination can become physical through the use of movement, sound, objects, text and light, and how these elements can shape the relationship between the performer, the space and the audience. I’ll work with the central image of a child searching for his missing heart, using improvisation and practical experiments to develop the characters, atmosphere and dramaturgical structure of the piece.” – Brahim
