My ambition as an artist is broadly ‘anthropological’: to understand the environment in which I work and to use that knowledge to make a positive contribution.
In my practice I find my inspiration in the poetics of wear and tear left behind by people’s cultural activities. Secondary to my practice are my projects which have a primary concern with cleaning and purification. The focus is the ‘invisible’ and the almost always unacknowledged manual labour of cleaning, in relation to organised leisure as a cultural phenomenon.
