Nicky has worked with the organisation for a long time! After training and working as a Speech Therapist in London, she evolved a freelance career as drama and dance therapist, costume maker and administrator for independent performance/dance groups whilst continuing an informal training in contemporary dance. She also dabbled in performing with a dance collective (with Jacob Marley and Liz Ranken) before deciding that she preferred being behind the scenes rather than in front. Hence, her journey with Artsadmin began as it evolved from a team of 3 in a tiny office in Clerkenwell in the early 90’s to its current much larger family at Toynbee Studios.
Over the years Nicky has worked with a huge range of artists and companies producing work that slips and slides across the performing and visual arts – supporting them to realise their projects whether they be large or small-scale, site-specific, participatory performances, national/ international tours or installations in galleries or non-art spaces.
She particularly enjoys working with artists from the seed of a new idea, finding partners and interesting contexts where the work can be realised and thrive, and in so doing create meaningful experiences for different audiences and participants.
Parent of a lovely teenage daughter, Nicky cycles everywhere she can, swims wherever she can, works in her garden/ allotment when she can and wants to contribute in whatever way she can to saving the planet and creating a fairer society.
